MD Marine Electric is MDEG's original division and its shipboard electrical crew. Union-trained IBEW marine electricians handle full-service vessel electrical: repair, modification, new installation, and emergency response. The crew follows the fleet. We go where the boats go.
Shipboard work runs on availability schedules. A failed test, an undocumented change, or a crew that cannot get aboard holds every trade behind it. MD Marine Electric brings CMMC Level 2 handling of controlled unclassified information and union electricians who know how a ship check becomes a work package.
Past performance includes the USCGC Polar Star. MD Marine Electric is backed by twenty-six years of MDEG DoD contracting experience.

MD Commercial Electric handles land-based commercial and industrial electrical: new construction, tenant improvement, LED retrofit, and smart building systems. Union electricians, licensed contractor, one point of accountability for the electrical scope.
The electrical scope touches every other trade's schedule. When design, panels and installation come from three companies, the gaps between them become change orders. Inside MDEG, design comes from MD Engineering, panels from Fail-Safe Electric, and installation from MD Commercial Electric, under one contract.

MD Engineering provides electrical design, planning, and engineering services from concept through completion, led by Jordan Whitt, P.E. Drawings are checked against how the work actually gets installed, because the crews installing it work down the hall.
Many electrical failures show up before they happen, as heat at a loose termination or a breaker that no longer trips on time. Thermal imaging finds the first. Circuit breaker testing finds the second. MD Engineering does both and documents the results against the equipment they came from.
Engineering work feeds directly into Fail-Safe Electric's panel shop and MDEG's field divisions. One design, one group, no translation between firms.
Navigation and communications, installed and supported.
MD Electronics integrates marine electronics, including navigation, radar, satellite communications, and custom vessel systems, for commercial operators and private owners. Like MD Marine Electric, it follows the fleet.
Integration is where vessel electronics fail: equipment from several manufacturers sharing one network, one heading source, and one power supply. MD Electronics installs the full system and services it afterward, including Starlink Maritime.
An authorized Furuno reseller and Garmin dealer, MD Electronics also installs and services more than a dozen other manufacturers, from Raymarine and Simrad to KVH and Intellian. FCC Licensed.
UL 508A panels, engineered through installation.
Fail-Safe Electric is MDEG's UL Listed 508A and 698A panel shop. Motor control centers, VFD enclosures, marine-grade switchboards, portable power skids, isolation carts, and custom alarm and communication systems are designed, fabricated, and installed by the same team. One contract, one accountability boundary.
The 508A label is not decoration. NEC 2026 requires listed industrial control panels for installations tied into the grid or carrying personnel-safety functions. Unlabeled or non-compliant panels fail inspection, trigger schedule penalties, complicate insurance, and on industrial sites expose project budgets to $10,000 to $100,000 per day in downtime while the issue is resolved.
