Install, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical systems aboard commercial, government, and military vessels. Work on unique shipyard projects throughout the U.S. alongside experienced marine electricians. Travel is a regular part of the job.

Requirements

  • Willing and able to travel for out-of-town projects
  • Comfortable working at heights, on ladders, and aboard vessels
  • Able to work in confined spaces and industrial shipyard environments
  • Ability to obtain military base access credentials (TWIC card preferred)
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Willing to work overtime, weekends, and occasional night shifts as project schedules require
  • Shipyard safety certifications a plus (OSHA 10, Confined Space, Hot Work, etc.)
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment and customer-required background screenings
  • Experience with marine electrical systems

Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for marine electrical projects supporting the U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, NOAA, Military Sealift Command (MSC), commercial vessels, and shipyards. Review technical specifications, drawings, and work items to develop complete proposals while coordinating with customers, vendors, engineers, and project managers. This position includes occasional travel for ship checks, pre-bid meetings, and customer visits throughout the United States.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of marine electrical estimating, project management, or shipboard electrical experience
  • Strong knowledge of marine electrical systems and shipboard installation practices
  • Ability to read and interpret ship drawings, one-line diagrams, and technical specifications
  • Experience reviewing government solicitations, work items, and bid packages
  • Familiarity with NAVSEA Standard Items, General Technical Requirements (GTRs), and shipyard work practices
  • Experience with U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, NOAA, MSC, or commercial vessel projects preferred
  • Experience preparing labor, material, and subcontractor estimates
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel for ship checks and customer meetings
  • Ability to obtain military base access and pass government-required background screenings
  • Must be eligible to work on U.S. government contracts
  • Ability to work aboard vessels, in shipyards, and in industrial environments

  • NAVSEA Standard Items (009 series)
  • Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM)
  • U.S. Coast Guard SFLC specifications
  • ABS, USCG, and IEEE marine standards
  • Government contracting and FAR requirements
  • Existing relationships with shipyards, marine vendors, and federal customers

  • Review drawings, specifications, and work items
  • Attend ship checks, pre-bid meetings, and customer site visits
  • Coordinate with engineers, vendors, and subcontractors
  • Identify scope gaps, technical risks, and pricing opportunities
  • Prepare proposals and bid packages
  • Support project turnover after award

  • Strong understanding of commercial electrical construction methods and materials
  • Experience reviewing plans, specifications, and bid documents
  • Ability to perform quantity takeoffs and prepare competitive estimates
  • Experience with Accubid, Bluebeam, or similar estimating software preferred
  • Knowledge of NEC and commercial electrical systems
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Valid driver's license
  • Willing to travel occasionally, including project site visits in Alaska
  • Government or military project experience preferred

  • Design-build estimating
  • Federal, state, or municipal projects
  • Design-build and negotiated work
  • NAVFAC, USACE, GSA, or public works experience
  • Industrial or shipyard estimating experience
